Menswear Trends - Fall/Winter 2020-21 (ItaltexTrends)
May 21, 2019

Autumn/Winter 20-21 is featured by a marked trend towards a sportier look.
Key is the use of fancy yarns like mouline’, slow twist mouline’, slubs, knots and some loopy yarns. A lot of knitted fabrics satisfy the need for comfortable yet formal looking garments. The trend for English style fabrics comes along with a general increase of patterns.

In men’s wear, the high contrast black-white combination is interpreted in optical patterns on jersey, big, well defined checks for knit shirts, tartans for stretch trousers, herringbones reproducing tyre tracks for new sweaters.

Sports style being the key trend of the season, fancy yarns become a key element to renew traditional patterns. So we find a lot of mouliné and, for an even sportier look, slubbed mouline’, as well as melange, kemp, neppy or slubbed yarns.

Very compact and stretch knits for formal looking suits - that’s how the most traditional suit becomes a comfortable, easy-care garment. Patterns take inspiration from classic menswear, but are updated by environmentally friendly man-made fibres.

English style really marks the return to patterns: window-pane checks, glenchecks, gingham checks as well as hound’s tooth and herringbones. Traditional tartans are updated with loopy yarns drawing the window-pane.

Denim look is still important in heavyweight constructions for jackets with irregular, slubbed ends, mini patterns in wool-cotton qualities for trousers, indigo blue jaspe’ jersey jackets and small geometric patterns for cotton shirts.
