Casablanca on Monday named Frederick Lukoff as its CEO to work alongside founder and Creative Director Charaf Tajer. The move comes a few weeks after it was acquired by a newly-established company, Casablanca Paris Ltd, in a restructuring ahead of an expansion drive.

The luxury fashion company has also seen “a round of significant growth investment” as part of the change.

Lukoff was most recently at the helm of Scotch & Soda and previously spent a decade as president and CEO of Stella McCartney. He’s also worked in senior roles at Lanvin, Paco Rabanne, and Courrèges.

Charaf Tajer highlighted the new CEO’s “wealth of knowledge in this industry” and the fact that he’s “worked with legends who I have always looked up to, namely André Courrèges and Alber Elbaz”.

He also said “a new era for the brand is on the horizon, and it’s time for Casablanca to take the next step”.

Over the next year, a “key priority” for the label will be opening its first flagship boutique in Paris, “giving the devoted Casablanca community an immersive physical space in which to congregate around the brand”.

It will also do further work on expanding its product lines, as well as enhancing the brand’s digital capabilities, and investing in supply chain to “enable Casablanca to continue its exciting global growth trajectory”.

Launched in 2018 by Tajer, London-based Casablanca has developed a high profile in the luxury sector, despite still being relatively small, and is currently stocked in over 300 boutiques internationally.

Lukoff said of his new role: “I am delighted to be joining Charaf and his team to help accelerate the already incredible rise of Casablanca within luxury fashion. The brand universe that Charaf has created is highly compelling, impressive by its breadth and depth, and I absolutely love its positivity. This creates so many opportunities for the future.”
