Paul Smith teams up with Man U again for spring tailoring launch

Paul Smith brand continues to build on its long and deep association with English Premiership footfall team Manchester United. It’s again promoting the brand’s new collection by dressing not only the current first team players but also one of its all-time legends.

The club’s well-known red home kit is a focal “point of pride” for Paul Smith and the brand’s further association is supplying the match day uniform for players and coaching staff, and has been official tailoring partner for more than a decade “to ensure that their off-pitch look is as sharp as their on-pitch performance”.

While football used to link up almost exclusively with high street brands, in recent years designer labels and football clubs have been something of a dream combination.

Labels have made the most of the huge publicity advantage such partnerships give them, while a fashion offer has increasingly been a must-have for the clubs themselves.

Working alongside the club (which is the second most popular football club globally behind Real Madrid), the Paul Smith brand developed a wardrobe of tailoring and accompanying pieces which “foregrounds classic style while taking into account the needs of professional sportspeople who are constantly on the road".

“What we arrived at was a version of our popular A Suit to Travel In, paired with shirts and knitwear from our Modern Working Wardrobe – a capsule that’s proven to be a hit with players and fans alike”, Smith said.

And to celebrate the breadth of its range for Spring ‘24, stars Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw, Rasmus Højlund and Altay Bayindir were chosen to wear the collection, alongside club legend Andy Cole.
