On the French market, Primark is strengthening its store network teams with three appointments. Firstly, the Irish low-price fashion chain has announced the arrival of Stéphane Choukroun as property manager. Since 2018, the 42-year-old has been the real estate director for the American accessories chain Claire's, for France, Italy, Switzerland and Benelux.

In the course of his career, Stéphane Choukroun has worked at Cushman & Wakefield, was legal manager at Darty, and was also in charge of the Krys Group's expansion in the northern half of France. At Primark, his mission will be to "help consolidate Primark's presence and expansion in France by choosing the most appropriate locations." He will work with Vincent Combet, the real estate director.

Primark has also made two internal promotions. Paula Conceiçao has been appointed regional manager, after ten years with the brand. She started in-store, at the Marseille Grand-Littoral department store, before rising through the ranks to become manager of the Euralille outlet in 2017, then O'Parinor in 2018. For the past four years, she has been head of the Belle-Epine store.

Jean-Edouard Rouquerol - DR

Last but not least, Jean-Edouard Rouquerol is taking on the position of retail operations manager. He joined Primark in 2016 as senior department manager in the Marseille-Grand Littoral store, after working for six years at Galeries Lafayette. He then went on to manage several outlets in Val d'Europe, Villeneuve and Créteil. His objective will now be "to improve Primark's operating model and the links between the stores and the Group."

In France, the low-cost chain currently has 24 units, and will be opening three more by the end of the year. In Nantes, Echirolles and Rouen. In all, the chain employs 6,000 people in France, representing over 8% of the company's total workforce. Worldwide sales climbed 13% in the third quarter of its 2022/23 financial year, to £1.998 billion (€2.33 billion).
