Summer-ready: Parlez and MessyWeekend launch eyewear, headwear collection

Danish eyewear brand MessyWeekend has teamed up with Parlez to launch a collaboration of unisex eyewear and headwear, marking a debut accessories entry for the UK-based streetwear label.

Parlez X MessyWeekend

Underpinning its commitment to “style and sustainability”, the eyewear brand said the launch fuses “timeless styles with retro inspirations”, while the accompanying campaign “captures the essence of relaxing, sun-soaked days spent pool-side, readying us for the start of summer”.

The collection combines three updated pairs of MessyWeekend’s Dean sunglasses, including the classic rectangular style in three colour-ways of Havana, Dark Blue Havana and Opac Green.

The Parlez X MessyWeekend sail logo’s stamped on the arm, while gold metal end plates at each temple bare the Parlez logo.

Made with bio-acetate (derived from renewable resources such as wood pulp and cotton linters) it mimics traditional plastics but comes with a much lower environmental impact, we’re told.

Alongside the sunglasses, the collection also features two hat styles with a nostalgic 90s vibe. The Ripley 5-panel cap and Tyro bucket hat, both made from 100% recycled nylon, are available in Navy and Ecru. Both too feature sleeves to hold essential eyewear, allowing them to sit securely on the brim when in the shade.

Cav Bunkhall, Creative Director for Parlez, said: “A sunglasses range has always been something we wanted to develop and partnering with MessyWeekend is the perfect way to start this journey. Their sense of community, tone and spirit marry perfectly with Parlez and their roots in youthful ambition are in our DNA.”

The collection is now available on both brands' websites as well as ASOS, Cooshti, North Designerwear, The Union Project and other key independent stockists.
