White Stuff in Thrift+ partnership to 'rehome' old clothes

Lifestyle label White Stuff has launched a new partnership that “provides an innovative way to donate and resell unwanted clothes”. 

It has just launched in-store and online with customers able to get a 10p co-branded Thrift+ bag to send their old clothes from any brand to Thrift+. The proceeds from the bags themselves will go to the White Stuff Foundation.

When consumers send in their old clothes, they’ll be given £10 off their next White Stuff order over £30 after Thrift+ receives their bag. They’ll also gain credits when their items sell and these can either be used to buy other pre-owned clothes on Thrift+ or donated to charity.

White Stuff CEO Jo Jenkins said linking up with Thrift+ “is an important part of our ongoing commitment to reducing our impact on the environment, and we hope customers find it to be a really easy and rewarding way to give their old clothes a new home”.

It’s particularly interesting that this partnership launches at the same time as Burberry has linked up with Vestiaire Collective on a resale initiative. Both deals underline the importance of sustainability-focused programmes at all price levels and the buoyancy of the burgeoning pre-owned sector.

White Stuff has had a busy year so far. In January it reported a stellar Christmas 2022 season with November and December sales rising 16% year on year. 

And it has been opening new stores with debuts in Glasgow’s Silverburn mall during the spring and an Edinburgh flagship this summer. The opening took its store numbers to almost 120 across the UK.
